TOPIK Result

Today I got my TOPIK 41st result. While this was the first TOPIK for most of us, it was my second and third time. How so? I took both TOPIK I and TOPIK II in one seating date, which wasn't really a smart move unless you are comfortable with seating from 9 AM to 4.30 PM in a cold room.

Truth is I've always wanted to register for TOPIK II. I did TOPIK Beginner in April 2014 and I got level 1 and I thought at least I know how TOPIK is. It's the fact - I know what and how TOPIK is but I was still deemed inadequate for TOPIK II by my institution because I am only Level 2 student and TOPIK II is for Level 3 and above hahaha. So they registered me for TOPIK I and I did not give up and register myself, individually and secretly, for TOPIK II.

I prayed really hard to make my money and my effort worth it.
Every single day since the test day.

I don't wanna shame myself by 'thinking that I could pass while what I actually did is burning my money in the cold testing room'.

TOPIK result was the only thing that occupied my mind for the past week (plus pempek, yeah!). So today, I tried my best to distract myself until 3 PM.

After finals, I went to Seoul Station with Tugce, followed her to Lotte Grocery and Ewha Posco cafetaria for lunch. When the clock finally hit 3PM, we used Posco's shared computer to check our result. I used the wrong menu several times, but thank God, Tugce was patient enough with me haha. The computer was really slow but we finally made it.

I logged in and checked my result...

I. PASSED. LEVEL. 3.

YES. Its ONLY level 3. But one thing for sure: I am going to university next Spring as I passed the requirement.

After that, I did not really care about my TOPIK I result until Tugce opened hers and got a fantastic 197/200 mark. She only missed 1 question and that was a high bar to pass.

Then she encouraged me to open mine as well...

Freaking 200/200.

after that one, this looks nothing hahahaha
Finally. WORTH MY EVENING STRUGGLE, RAMADHAN, FASTING and IED.
They prep me for TOPIK I and I made it - with a lot of sadness due to improper Ied Day in the classroom, stuffing myself last-minutely with materials that I couldn't recall now.

My attitude on the penultimate day was an ultimate bitch - let me tell you. I was screaming for a proper first independent (or lonely, I'd say) Ied Day abroad and I couldn't really digest the words I read that afternoon. I tried my best to be happy on the last day, the Ied Day, because that was the true meaning of Ied that I was taught. Its still sad to recall my last week of Ramadhan's memories.

Anyway, forget my nagging, I passed. Both. Fantasticly.

After I sent these to my coordinator and my classroom teacher, I got a surprise call confirming if I "really took both test and registered myself individually" which of course I did.

Allah is kind, Allah is good. I did not regret filling my Ramadhan with - what I can say now as - productive activities and spending my Ied Day in test room, classroom and swimming pool. Alhamdulillah.
